FAQ
Can I switch tiers later?
Yes, from your dashboard. If you run one game you can change its size on the Plan page; with several, each game has its own "Change size" link, so moving one leaves the others alone. You see the exact prorated amount before you confirm: an upgrade is charged then and there, a downgrade comes off your next renewal. We migrate your data to the new size on our side at the same time.
What's included in the hosting price?
The game server, its share of the database and search cluster, and us running all of it. One bill, and no separate cloud account to manage. What you get is an admin panel for your game rather than a server to look after.
What if my game outgrows the Pro tier?
Hit the contact form. Enterprise gets you a dedicated host (or several), a custom SLA, and a direct line to our team. Pricing is based on the spec you actually need.
What can I spend dev hours on?
Anything that changes how your hosted instance behaves. New mechanics, custom integrations, balance tuning, content drops, performance work, admin features, theming. Submit a request from your dashboard and we'll send back an estimate before logging hours.
What if I don't use my hours?
Depends which retainer you're on. On the standard plan they expire at the end of the billing month; on the rollover plan they stay on your balance for as long as you're subscribed. Both plans bill at the same $40/hr, so the choice is only about what happens to time you don't spend. Either way the retainer covers triage and support requests too, so an unused month isn't wasted.
How do game modules work?
Each one is a self-contained feature in the engine that's switched off until you buy it. You pay once, for one game, and it's yours, there's nothing added to your monthly bill. It appears in your game shortly after payment, with nothing to install at your end. Running the same module on a second game is a second purchase, because each game is licensed on its own.
Do I need a particular hosting tier to buy a module?
No. Hosting tiers are about the size of the machine your game runs on; modules are features. Any module works on any tier.
Can I run more than one game?
Yes, as many as you like. Each one is separate, its own players, its own data, its own admin panel, and each is billed at its own hosting tier plus its own dev retainer, at full price. The hours don't get split up though: every retainer you're paying for feeds one shared balance, so a busy month on one game can draw on all of it. Add a game from your dashboard and we'll build it; you see the exact prorated charge before anything is taken.
What if I need way more hours one month?
Overage bills at the same $40/hr at month end. For a launch month or a big content drop, email ahead and we'll block out a larger amount of time so nothing slips.
Who owns the game I build on HaxxOGE?
You own your game's content, branding, player data, and the custom mechanics we build for you. The engine itself stays a hosted service.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Request a full export of your players, transactions, and world state any time. After cancellation we hold your instance for 30 days while you pull anything you missed.
